Smoke Rising from a Farmhouse Kitchen

Life in the 1980s was simple and poor, yet full of warmth that could heal the heart. Dirt roads, blue-brick houses, gray-tiled roofs, and cooking smoke formed the most familiar village scene.

Walk just a little way from home, and you could smell the faint fragrance of firewood, bringing a special sense of peace.

Those who left the countryside would find themselves missing home from time to time.

I dedicate this book to the years gone by, to the simple days of country life, and to every ordinary person who lived earnestly.
