Slay the Gods: Open Up! Akiwili, Yeah, Aha

[There is a romance, but it develops slowly. Canon pairings are broken up; the CP is Lin Qiye. There are many original settings, and the writing is bad, so please bear with me (exhausted mushroom).]

Ten years ago, Cangnan was destroyed overnight. Lin Qiye, the sole survivor, heard a laugh amid the ruins. It was a quiet laugh, like someone had fallen from the sky and happened to land on the ground.

Ten years later, a young woman named Ruoyao became his doctor at the psychiatric hospital. She came by once a year for a checkup, asked the same questions, and wrote the same conclusions. Lin Qiye never suspected her. Who would suspect a doctor?

That was, until the attacks by the Masked Men, the snake demon incident at No. 2 Middle School, and the new recruit training camp came one after another. He then discovered that his "doctor" was not only skilled in combat, but could also use playing cards to cut through the No-Precept Aetherial Zone, impersonate a member of the Masked Squad, and fool everyone. Whenever she did these things, she wore a smile at the corner of her mouth, as if watching a carefully planned prank unfold.

Only later did he learn that being a psychiatric hospital doctor was the least remarkable of her many identities. Ruoyao the Nameless Guest, Zhu the Cloud Knights' soldier, Cat the phantom thief, Xingluo of the Pure Beauty Knights, Lianta the songstress of the Interastral Peace Corporation, Fuluoya the mermaid, Dr. Futaniesi of the Intelligentsia Guild...

Every name was hers, and yet none of them was entirely her.

"So who exactly is Akivili?" Lin Qiye asked.

Ruoyao twirled a playing card in her hand and smiled slightly. "You guess."
