From the Start, My Entire Court Rebels, So I Summon the Heroes of China

Engineering graduate student Lin Che wakes up to find himself the most miserable emperor in the Great Xia Dynasty.

No contest.

Three days after ascending the throne, he's only at the first level of the Martial Apprentice stage, weaker than even the palace eunuchs.

Even worse, he discovers that everyone around him is an "actor":

His personal eunuch slips poison into his tea every day;

The chief minister has an abdication edict ready in his desk drawer;

The commander of the imperial guard has planted five thousand axe-wielding soldiers along the autumn hunting route;

His royal uncle, the Prince of Qin, writes to an enemy kingdom in the dead of night, inviting them to "come to the capital and join in the festivities."

The entire court, the three thousand women of the harem, the feudal lords of the four corners of the realm, the immortals of the Upper Realm: not one of them wants him alive.

Then the System awakens.

[The Imperial Summoning System has been bound.]

[Beginner's gift pack received: Summon Bai Qi, the Great Qin Lord Wu'an, and five thousand elite Great Qin soldiers.]

Bai Qi kneels with sword in hand. "Your Majesty, who would dare assassinate you? I shall go and kill them."

Only then does Lin Che realize the Bai Qi he summoned is the real thing: a living, breathing person with memories and a personality. He can drink, get angry, get hurt, and kill.

No soul possession, no phantom puppet.

From that day on, Lin Che understands one thing:

You all want to sit on this dragon throne?

Then I shall kill every last one of you first, and show the heroes of China's five thousand years what a true imperial court looks like.
