An Intern's Heart-Fluttering Report

[Growing-Up Romance] [Devoted Love] [Second Chance at Love] [Only Each Other]

He is the Lu Group president who commands the business world. She is Heidelberg University's youngest scholar of cultural relics.

Outside the dormitory, he stops in front of her. "Su Nian, let's be together."

"Mr. Lu, we're not right for each other."

By the sea

"Su Nian, have you made up your mind?"

"I don't want a secret relationship, I don't want to be kept, and I don't want to be someone's hidden lover. What do you mean by 'be together,' Mr. Lu?"

"I mean be my girlfriend. I want to introduce you to everyone openly, hold your hand in public, and take care of you as your boyfriend."

"All right."

The Ferris wheel rises to its highest point, revealing the whole city at night, its countless lights glittering like a river of stars.

"Niannian, once you graduate, let's get married, okay?"

"I'm sorry, Lu Chen. I... never really thought about marrying you."

On the first day of the lunar new year in Munich, snow falls in silence.

"Niannian, can we talk?"

"There's nothing to talk about. Don't come here again."

He stands in the snow in despair, gazing silently up at her window, his body numb with cold.

With red-rimmed eyes, she shouts at him, "Go to the hospital! You have a fever!"

He stubbornly stays where he is. "If I go to the hospital, are you going to leave me there again?"

The girl he had cherished in the palm of his hand was, in the end, lost because of him.

Only after the storm has passed does he slide the ring back onto her finger. "This isn't a proposal. It's putting things back where they belong."

At the civil affairs bureau, she looks up at him, just as she did by the sea that year, and softly answers, "All right."
