Come On, Don't Turn Me Down

A poised, sunny heroine x a rebellious, guiding hero

School life + the entertainment industry | Ages 17 to 24 | Mutual secret crushes

On a spring day when they were seventeen, Yu Zh le and Ling Shinian meet at Yigui No. 1 High School.

When the image-conscious Yu Zh le, with her hair in a bun, meets the rebellious Ling Shinian, sporting an apple-shaped haircut, what kind of sparks will fly between these young hearts?

Heavy schoolwork and the constraints of family wrap their youth in a hard shell, but it slowly loosens as they draw closer to each other.

They stand side by side against injustice and break free of their restraints, spending their fiery high school years with a close-knit group of friends. As they share each day together, the feelings they keep secret quietly take root.

But after the college entrance exams, Yu Zh le is afraid that rejection will cost her face in front of him. In the end, she keeps the words “I like you” buried in her heart, and they go their separate ways.

Years later, they run into each other again at work. In the instant they collide in a panic, the person behind her gently picks up the catchphrase she blurts out: “The world is vast, but saving face matters most.”

“Yu Zh le, it’s me, Ling Shinian.”

He gives a soft laugh, then adds:

“It’s been a long time.”

Only after her wish comes true does Yu Zh le learn:

Ling Shinian had fallen for her long ago, too.

The “Yu” in all the social media handles she thought were signs of fate was chosen deliberately by Ling Shinian.

Every coincidence that had made her so happy was something he had arranged.

The young man’s heart had been set on her from the very beginning.

“Ling Shinian, you’re awful!”

“You are not a fish, so how can you know the joy of a fish?”
