Eerie Descent: I Drew the King Character

The Red Moon descended, and the world was plunged into catastrophe.

Survivors randomly drew a character from their own names and awakened a talent.

Zhang Hao drew [Hao], commanding vast waters, and the whole school fawned over him.

Su Qing drew [Qing], gaining a clear-sky shield, and dumped Wang Mu in front of everyone.

Li Li drew [Li], shattering walls with a single punch and basking in glory.

Then it was Wang Mu's turn.

A line appeared in his mind:

[Talent: King. No manifested ability.]

The whole class burst out laughing. "King? Who's going to make you king in the apocalypse?"

Only when a line slowly appeared beneath his status panel, a line no one else had, did everything change:

[With each advancement, gain three additional Chinese characters to choose freely.]

Others risked their lives to advance. A good character could send them soaring, while a useless one could doom them forever.

Only he knew that every character in the world would have to bow before his character for "King."

Years later, with all nine characters complete, all powers bowed before him.

The boy once mocked by everyone for having a useless character stood atop the blood moon, looking down upon all living beings.

Su Qing knelt among the crowd, tears streaming down her face.

Wang Mu didn't look at her.

"The character for King wasn't useless. Your characters just weren't worthy of being called kings."
