[Tang Dynasty Transmigration] [Wild Imagination] [Adventure] [No System] [American College Students]
Three American college students, Julian, Marcus, and Theo, are hurled by a transmigration mishap into the West Market of Chang'an in the third year of the Tianbao era.
They want to pass themselves off as Tang people, but can't even speak the official language fluently. Luckily, Chang'an is home to a hundred thousand foreign merchants: the pale-faced one can pose as a merchant from Fulin, the dark-skinned one as a Kunlun slave, and the Latin-faced one as a Sogdian merchant. The three decide to go all in and act like "foreigners more foreign than the foreigners," getting by at brokerages, spice shops, and writing stalls with sharp eyes and modern quick thinking. But real foreigners keep putting them through one test after another, and the slightest slip could cost them their lives.
They think this is just an absurd game of survival, until they find a yellowed register wedged into the wall of an abandoned shrine: First group of three, gone. Second group of three, gone… The seventh group has a blank entry, with the ink still wet. They are the "seventh group." Bronze tokens, murder cases, and investigations by the judicial authorities follow one after another. And eleven years later, the drums of war will sound in Yuyang. Beneath the splendor of Chang'an in its golden age, dark currents are already swirling.
From opening up shop in the West Market to fleeing on the night of the Shangyuan Festival, the three make friends, test one another, save people, and are saved in turn amid Chang'an's bustling streets and alleys. At last, they narrowly escape the city between pursuers and underground channels, only to become thoroughly caught up in a much larger game leading to the "Gate of Guixu."
This is a historical transmigration story that starts as a light comedy and gradually turns into a serious tale of a troubled age. Humor and danger go hand in hand, as the warmth of everyday life intertwines with the undercurrents of fate.
