Exiled to My Home? Fine, Fine, You're All in My Hands Now

The Su family’s eldest daughter was brought back from the countryside to the capital and married off in place of another to the crown prince, who had been convicted and exiled.

They thought sacrificing her would make the whole family happy? Dream on.

Su Lanyin gave the emperor an earful. Furious, he wrote an imperial decree: her wife’s family was guilty too, and the whole family would be exiled with her.

Now that’s more like it. Family should share hardships and stick together.

When Su Lanyin saw the place of exile, she was delighted. Wasn’t this her home?

Wonderful. Now that she had turned her fortunes around, she could treat them just as badly as they had treated her.

So she lived in her own large tiled house while they stayed in the straw cowshed they’d been assigned.

She ate white rice while they ate wild water shield from the river.

To Su Lanyin, who had grown up here, this so-called barbarous, miasma-ridden land of a thousand mountains was a natural treasure trove.

Pheasants practically flew into the cooking pot, and wild boars tumbled down the slopes. There was more than enough mountain delicacies and game to go around.

Her scumbag father watched the pheasant in her bowl and drooled. “I’m your real father. I want some meat.”

Su Lanyin casually tossed a chicken leg to the yellow dog by her feet. “Sorry, my real father died ages ago. You should be grateful I haven’t fed you shit.”

As for the fallen former crown prince, since he’d cooperated so enthusiastically in getting her whole family in trouble, she decided to keep him around for six months as his reward.

She saw their relationship as nothing but a transaction: no debts, no strings.

But the crown prince was all sincerity. He said, “I’ll hunt for you, fight for you, and win an empire for you. We’ve been through hardship together, and we’ll never part for the rest of our lives.”
