Su Miao is an art major who has failed English for two semesters, so she's assigned to receive academic support from Lu Shixu, a computer science prodigy.
He's aloof and ascetic around everyone else, but with her, he remembers her sweet soy milk, tilts the umbrella over her on rainy days, and uses an anonymous account to defend her on the forum late at night.
Later, she discovers that the game's top player, "Lone Boat," is him, and so is "Nine Heavens," the one who protects her. That cake at the awards ceremony three years ago, and the "Far Voyage Scholarship," had already tied them together.
One day, as the whole class gossips, he appears at the classroom door and says, "She's mine." He pauses for two seconds, then adds, "...My support student."
Su Miao's ears burn. "How long have you been secretly in love with me?"
He smiles. "A little longer than you think."
