In ancient times, the earth and the moon were shaped like gourds and were connected by the umbilical cord of Mount Buzhou. The moon is inhabited by an ancient race called "gods and demons". They are born with powerful soul power and rely on absorbing the essence of the earth to maintain immortality. Mortals on earth serve gods and demons, offering faith and life force.
In order to accelerate the growth of power, gods and demons teach mortals how to practice. The ancient gods and demons headed by Gonggong, Fuxi, and Nuwa couldn't stand this kind of atrocities, and angrily judged the gods and demons, triggering the ancient war. In the end, Gonggong crashed into Mount Buzhou in anger at the cost of his life, causing the separation of heaven and earth and the disappearance of the moon. In order to survive, the gods and demons sealed themselves inside the moon, but before sealing off, they set up a "soul trap" to cover the earth and continue to absorb human souls.
As time goes by, the gods and demons inside the moon gradually awaken, and the era of Nirvana begins.
