Synopsis of the story of "Splitting the Shackles"
Dasheng Dynasty, Jinghe period. Shen Qingwu, the legitimate daughter of the left minister of the Ministry of Civil Affairs, was used by her father as a bargaining chip for political marriage and wanted to marry Pei Shaojun, the son of Suzhou Jiedushi. This man was violent and had a bad reputation. Shen Qingwu refused to obey, and with the help of his close friends Lin Moshu and Gu Mingzhu, he climbed over the wall and fled the night before the sedan chair came.
The Shen family is powerful and pursues them like a net. The three girls fled all the way from the deep mountains and wild ridges to Yunzhou, escaping from cellars, stone crevices, and dark rooms, as well as from informants, roundups, and pursuits. When he was most desperate, Shen Qingwu cut his neck and committed suicide in front of everyone. He would rather die than look back. The famous doctor Liu Wenzhou rescued her with half a "life-sustaining pill". After dying once, she stopped running away.
