Folklore: Beneath the Tower

The night my grandfather died, someone knocked on his coffin. While sorting through his belongings, I found a handwritten diary filled with the weaknesses of ghosts and monsters. It recorded everything he had spent his life fighting.

There is an invisible power grid in this world: high-voltage towers suppress mass graves, communications towers sit atop ancient battlefields, and power lines run through cities and alleys, pinning haunted places deep underground.

And at the entrance to the village where my grandfather stood guard his whole life, something is sealed away that even Bureau 749 wouldn't dare disturb lightly.

My name is Chen Yan. I'm twenty-six, and after failing to make it in the big city, I came back to keep vigil for my grandfather. Now that diary is dragging me, page by page, into the other side of the world.
