Reborn in 1976: A Record of Mountain Foraging

Chen Jianguo was twenty-seven when he died.

A former reconnaissance soldier turned railway police officer, he died in the space between train cars while catching a knife-wielding thief on a Spring Festival travel rush train.

When he opened his eyes again, it was 1976.

He had become an eighteen-year-old worker at Beijing's Hongxing Machinery Factory. His father had just been killed by an overhead crane. His stepmother had locked the 180 yuan compensation money in a cabinet, and his stepbrother had gotten his father's job. All that was left for him was one option: go to the countryside.

The educated youth compound was freezing, there weren't enough work points to put food on the table, and the whole village was waiting to see how soon this Beijing boy would cry and run back home.

Nobody knew that inside this body was a tough man who had grown up rough in the forests of Yichun and spent three years as a reconnaissance soldier.

Even fewer knew that he had a pair of hands that could grow warm.
