Protagonist: Chen Jiu, a transmigrator and, in his previous life, a graduate student in folklore and a fan of Hong Kong movies. He transmigrates into the body of a junior officer at the West Kowloon Police Station in Hong Kong in 1985, badge number PC9527.
Golden finger: The "Underworld Merit System." Solving supernatural cases earns merit, which can be exchanged for Maoshan spells, magical artifacts, and talismans. Upgrading the System with merit unlocks advanced features such as "Underworld Instances," "Deity Invocation," and "Heavenly Thunder Talismans." The System's ultimate mission is to stop the evil god "Ghost Mother" from descending.
Worldbuilding: A supernatural universe combining Hong Kong movies and TV dramas such as The Haunted Cop Shop, Mr. Vampire, Out of the Dark, Troublesome Night, The Wailing, Rule Number One, Magic Cop, Mr. Vampire Saga, Inner Senses, Chinese Vampire Story, and My Date with a Vampire. The boundary between the worlds of yin and yang is blurred in Hong Kong, and within the police force, a secret department called the "Miscellaneous Affairs Bureau" specializes in handling supernatural cases.
I haven't read it yet and want to ask if the male protagonist is career-oriented or has a woman. I like career-oriented people and don't like those who are ambiguous with women. If there is a woman, I will not read it. After reading the introduction, I think the setting is quite good. I really want to read it but I am worried that it is a story about picking up girls covered with skin. I am a bit afraid to read it. I hope someone who has read it can reply to me.
