The Eternal Wanderer: I Record a Thousand Autumns Among Mortals

The protagonist, Qing Ya, was once a court historian in ancient times who recorded history. After accidentally violating the secrets of Heaven, he was sentenced to walk the mortal world forever, witnessing the rise and fall of dynasties without interfering or dying. Every five hundred years, he must assume a new identity. He has a photographic memory, but is forbidden from leaving behind any written records. He can sense the “aura” of historical turning points, but cannot actively change a single event. The only thing he can do is move through the marketplaces of each era as a peddler, laborer, scholar, or physician, seeing the everyday lives of the people and silently remembering the moments that official histories have forgotten.
