In his sophomore year, Lu Xingqiao secured a place as an exchange student in the college and flew to the United States for the first time. Part of the credit for him getting this place was due to Kong Fei, because the college's assessment included the IELTS speaking test. It was also because Kong Fei taught him the correct way to pronounce spoken English that he was able to successfully pass IELTS and get the exchange student place.
However, during the year of exchange in the United States, he did not meet Kong Fei as he wished. The world is too vast. Maybe when he came to the United States, Kong Fei went to other countries or returned to China.
During the year of exchange in the United States, Lu Xingqiao traveled to many places with part-time jobs. He looked at Antarctica from the Drake Passage, saw the most stars in the world in the Sahara Desert north of Africa, experienced the shock of the great animal migration in Kenya, walked through the Greenwich Observatory in the UK, and finally saw the most beautiful aurora in the world in Reykjavik, the capital of Iceland.
