The ancient dragon girl Jinyan has descended to the mortal world to open a shop. Her wristband has activated a Heavenly Dao credit check: rent is 800 a month, and if it’s late, a bolt of heavenly lightning will be delivered straight to your door!
To avoid being struck by lightning, she rents a rundown wooden building in Erli Town and opens the “Jinyan Bistro.” But her employees are one stranger than the next:
· Owner Jinyan (Suanni): Sleeps like it’s her life’s calling and proclaims herself a culinary genius. Her braised beef is as hard as granite, so she’s forced to lie flat and become a hands-off boss.
· Waiter Bai Cijing (Nine-Tailed Fox): A millionaire cross-dressing influencer who ran away from an arranged marriage. He wears a designer coat and a bargain-bin apron, and angrily plucks and roasts chickens at dawn.
· Head chef Jinyan (Taotie): A severe case of mental anorexia in a naturally food-loving spirit, brought on by unscrupulous delivery meals made from pre-prepared ingredients. This tyrant of the kitchen wields a cast-iron skillet and is often mistaken for Jinyan’s hot-tempered, unemployed younger brother.
· Dishwashing security guard Yin Yu (Tiangou): A 1.88-meter-tall, fastidious model of a divine general who polishes plates until they shine like mirrors. Every day, he blows a military whistle and herds the whole staff into morning study.
· Front desk and purchasing manager Luan Qingyu (Luan bird): A trainee who tears around in a Wuling van while carrying an electric guitar and singing heavy-metal suona rock.
· Door-knocker mascots, the Jiao siblings: Chubby little kids who have lived for 400 years. Their greatest nightmare is being dragged off to first grade and getting zero in both subjects.
· Operations manager, the cash register: A sentient circuit board that won’t eat meat as long as there’s Wi-Fi. It loves turning unflattering nose-picking photos of employees into videos and livestreaming them to the local feed!
There are no battles between gods and demons, just a cozy little restaurant, homework tutoring, and hilarious squabbles over 800 yuan in rent.
