At two in the morning, delivery driver Chen Wen brought a milk tea order to a wall.
A customer stepped out of the wall. “I’m the Grim Reaper. I’m in a hurry to get to work.”
Chen Wen glanced at his phone. “Please show me your pickup code first.”
The Grim Reaper: “I don’t have one.”
Chen Wen: “Then I can’t hand it over.”
From that night on, Chen Wen’s orders got weirder and weirder: a headless passenger asking him to find his head, an old ghost demanding that a love letter from his previous life be delivered within seven days, a company boss refusing to admit he was dead, and an unlucky customer insisting on applying for a “seven-year bad-luck refund.”
By completing special orders, Chen Wen could temporarily gain his customers’ abilities. Only a five-star review would unlock an ability permanently. But if he got a bad review, an ability he had already acquired would go haywire at random for an entire day.
At his side were Lin Xi, a talkative reporter who remained obsessed with gossip even after death, and a customer service AI that was unfailingly polite and secretly learning about human emotions.
Chen Wen had only wanted to deliver takeout, pay rent, and live a quiet life without having to save the world.
Until he discovered that the friend who had once betrayed him had already used his name to sign a…
“Seven-Year Bad Luck Collection Agreement.”
And the first customer listed on the agreement was coming to see him in person.
