Mystic Script Appraisal

Welcome, everyone. I hope you enjoy this book. The author will do their best to keep it updated.

Shen Xing'an is an unemployed apprentice in cultural relic restoration, carrying on his family's ancestral craft as their fortunes decline. He once thought his life would be ordinary and impoverished.

While sorting through his grandfather's belongings by chance, he awakened a lost art of appraisal, unseen for a thousand years, with a broken Warring States jade pendant etched with mysterious patterns and activated by his blood.

From then on, he could clearly see faked aging beneath ancient porcelain glazes, hidden cracks inside jade, the marks left by time on antiquities, and the tiniest flaws in counterfeits.

With one hand, he wields a century-old family craft of mounting and repairing porcelain. With the other, he commands an all-seeing eye that can discern the past and present.

He uncovers treasures at street stalls and angrily exposes crooked dealers; he appraises treasures on livestream and takes the internet by storm.

He competes at gatherings of connoisseurs, stands up to powerful auction houses, and travels far and wide to recover heirloom antiques scattered among the public.

He finds a mentor to guide him and a kindred spirit to stand by his side. He takes on black-market grave-robbing networks and travels overseas in pursuit of national treasures lost abroad.

The world appraises treasures for profit and hoards antiquities to amass wealth.

Shen Xing'an holds fast to his principles, repairing what is broken and filling in what is missing. He uses his eye to distinguish the genuine from the fake, and his craft to carry civilization forward.
