A modern soul, trapped in a dog’s body.
When Qin Feng awoke in the inferno of Shanghai in 1937, he had not only lost the right to live as a human, he had also become an Akita with “pure” Japanese blood.
That Japanese blood, a “original sin” of sorts, made him kin to the invaders and a “traitor dog” in the eyes of his fellow countrymen.
He was forced to face the ultimate divide between human dignity and canine instinct: he had a mind that could foresee history, but all he could do was bark, unable to speak; his senses far surpassed those of humans, yet he was constantly overcome by hunger and fear. As he struggled against being gradually consumed by his animal nature, his only anchor was his master, a girl who had lost everything in the bombardment and was being transformed by the chaos of war from a pampered heiress into an avenger.
When humanity is caged inside a beast’s body, and the will to protect can only be expressed through biting, how can he lead her out from under the grinding wheels of history?
Through the eyes of a beast, he witnesses the fall of an era and the growth of a girl.
He is a dog. She is his master.
In this fallen city, he becomes her only guide.
Come on, it can only be said to be rare and quite curious 😏
Basically, I abandon a book after reading a few chapters. This is the only one I have followed in the past two months. Each character is vividly drawn, and the plot is not sluggish. Watching one person and one dog survive in troubled times is both tense and heart-warming. It can calm down the impetuous mind that usually consumes fast food content.
The writing is quite real, so depressing.
Very well written.
