No Return Call

In 1949, on a besieged island battered by storms.

He is Jin Tie, deputy director of the Communications Department of the Bureau of Investigation and Statistics, codenamed "Fisherman." After twelve years undercover, he suddenly loses contact with his organization overnight. A piece of intelligence that could save hundreds of lives is trapped inside him, like a bomb with its fuse nearly spent.

The enemy has arrived. Gu Shenyan, codenamed "Hound," is a top agent who trusts data, not human nature. He is parachuted onto the island and tears open the underground intelligence network with three precision purges. Jin Tie can only watch as one comrade after another falls, while Gu Shenyan's gaze inches ever closer to him.

With no backup and no way out, Jin Tie can only turn himself into a blade: drawn in the darkness, walking along its edge. Every fluctuation in the radio waves, every folded corner of a newspaper, every raindrop's path becomes a piece on a deadly chessboard. On an island that has been searched from top to bottom, he must get the intelligence out.

But the deadliest secret is this: in the codebook Gu Shenyan has deciphered, the two words "Fisherman" appear in plain sight.

Faith is iron, and conspiracy is an ocean. How can an undercover agent cut off from his contacts carve a path to safety beneath the Hound's fangs?

When loneliness becomes a weapon and silence becomes a language, this silent war is only just beginning.
