The Young Lady Never Takes Responsibility

[Bright, wicked heiress × aloof, broke college guy | Both leads are virgins | Female-led romance | Kept-man trope | The hero plays the dog | Intense push and pull | He falls first | The heiress never comes down from her pedestal] The first time Ming Wu saw Zhou Du, she thought his face was perfect for keeping. Too bad he was far too proud. Someone once offered him a hundred thousand to drink with them. He coldly pushed the money back, though he was so broke he could barely afford his mother’s hospital bills. His backbone was as unyielding as ever. That only made Ming Wu more interested. She wanted to see what he would look like when he finally lowered his head. Eventually, Zhou Du did. He told himself it was only for the money. Once his mother recovered, once he graduated, once he no longer needed Ming Wu, he would leave without looking back. But by the time he finally had everything he needed, Ming Wu had already grown tired of him. She returned the house, the money, and his freedom, then said casually, “Zhou Du, let’s end it here.” That night, the man who valued his dignity above all else stood outside her door for a long time. At last, he asked in a quiet voice, “If I don’t want your money, can’t you keep me anyway?” Only then did Ming Wu realize that she’d been teasing him on a whim, while Zhou Du had truly accepted her as his master. And he had no intention of leaving for the rest of his life. But the heiress never took responsibility. She only reached out her hand, and he willingly slipped his own neck into the collar.
