The Judge Won’t Marry Down

One-line summary: Shen Yan, an abandoned son of the Shen family, was born without dreams, yet carries within him the source of all dreams. The moment he enters the world of dreams, the entire Domain of Ten Thousand Dreams will be overturned by his arrival.

Synopsis:

Everyone in the world can enter dreams to cultivate, except Shen Yan, who was born without a dream. Known in the Shen family as the “open-eyed waste,” he lives cautiously in a world where dreams reign supreme, until the dream needle and bone key left behind by his mother tear away the facade of his peaceful life.

It is not that he has no dreams. Within him is a seed called the Original Dream, the source of all dreams.

His mother, Su Yu, was once a dream guide for the Ink Society. But to protect the Abyssal Prison of Ten Thousand Dreams, she turned against the society and used her soul power as a lock, standing alone at the Abyss Gate for decades. What she left Shen Yan was not merely a final wish, but a path leading deep into the realm of ten thousand dreams.

To maintain the dream lock his mother had guarded with her life, Shen Yan sets off east with Liu Yan. He learns the art of ink dreams, opens his original dream, obtains Returning Feather, and enters the Abyssal Prison of Ten Thousand Dreams. He seals the prison gate with the bone key, reconnects the lineage of its guardians with the Abyssal Heart, and at the main altar on Broken Dream Ridge severs the umbilical cord linking the Ink Mother to the Ink Sect. At last, he descends to the deepest level of the prison and uses the Original Dream as a seal to suppress the Ink Mother’s soul in the Dream Abyss once more.

But when he ventures to the bottom of a sunken dream city lake, he finds a letter written in the last glimmer of his mother’s light:

“You have walked the path I walked. From now on, there is no need to look back. I’ll be waiting for you at the source of dreams.”
