Qingyu Village on China’s southeastern coast is a semi-isolated traditional fishing village. It has preserved old crafts such as traditional tidal-flat foraging and making fish salt, but it also faces the challenges of young people moving away and declining coastal fisheries. Beyond the village stretch soft tidal flats, scattered reefs and islands, and shallow bays rich in seafood. Hidden in the depths are secret places and legends passed down by generations of tidal-flat foragers.
