"Hey, who is it?"
There was dead silence on the other end of the phone.
There was no expected greeting, no noise, and even the sound of breathing was inaudible. It was eerily quiet, as if no one was there at all.
Su Mu brought the phone closer to his ear and listened carefully, but it was still empty. He waited patiently for several seconds, but there was still no response, and he suddenly felt a little impatient in his heart.
"Hey, is there no one? I'm hanging up because there's no one?"
There was a hint of helplessness in his tone, and his fingertips were already hovering above the hang up button, ready to end this boring harassing phone call.
At this moment, there was finally movement on the other end of the phone.
"Don't hang up, don't hang up! There is someone!"
A slightly hoarse and tired male voice hurriedly sounded, speaking quickly and with a hint of eager obstruction.
The sound was strange, familiar yet strange. The timbre was very similar to his own voice, but it lost the clearness and clarity of a young boy, and became a bit deeper and thicker that had been polished by the years, as if he had been precipitated and tempered by time countless times.
Su Mu's heart was slightly shaken, and his original impatience dissipated instantly, replaced by doubts. He asked in a deep voice: "Who are you?"
The person on the other side was silent for a short moment, as if he was sorting out his thoughts or mustering up courage. Then he spoke very quickly and in an extremely solemn tone: "Su Mu, what I say next may be a little unbelievable or even ridiculous, but please believe me and don't question every word."
Before Su Mu could ask further questions, the deep voice sounded again, with a sense of helplessness and heaviness that could see through fate: "I am you ten years from now..."
