The small-town boy Chenxiang (played by Cao Jun) has always lived a peaceful life with his father, Liu Yanchang (played by Liu Xiaofeng), until one day he unexpectedly discovers that he possesses "magical powers" and can pass through walls without the slightest effort. When his father learns of this, he reveals a truth he has concealed for many years: Chenxiang's mother is actually the Third Holy Mother (played by Park Mi-sun), a goddess in heaven. She broke the laws of Heaven by marrying Liu Yanchang, a mortal, and was captured by the Heavenly Court. No one knows where she is now. Shocked by the truth, Chenxiang resolves to overcome every obstacle and rescue his mother. Erlang Shen (played by Jiao Enjun), Chenxiang's maternal uncle, has seen everything and decides to stop Chenxiang's journey to save his mother. Thus begins a perilous quest to rescue her, with Erlang Shen interfering at every turn. Along the way, Chenxiang encounters many kind-hearted spirits and strange beings, as well as all kinds of obstacles. At times, he even considers giving up. But in the end, nothing can overcome his determination to save his mother...
