Lu Chen, known internationally as "Sting," is a legendary sniper. After fourteen years on the battlefield, he returns home in secret with a fortune worth billions, hoping only to buy a home in the southern coastal city of Lancheng and settle down. He wants to shop for groceries, cook, play games, wander around the supermarket, and live quietly until the end of his days.
But his old enemy, the Black Scorpion organization, crosses the border to take revenge and ambushes him in a secluded alley. Instead, he disarms them with his bare hands and makes a blind headshot from fifteen meters away. The entire counterattack takes less than a second, so swift and clean that the National Security team secretly watching him is left stunned.
Reports about his classified identity climb the chain of command, alarming the military region. Deputy Commander Su Zhenbang personally approves an unofficial instructor post for him in the military compound, where he can be kept under close protection and supervision. He is also tasked with teaching the special forces practical combat skills and helping investigate foreign armed groups.
Before long, he receives a new assignment: provide close protection for Su Wan, a top geneticist. The forthright doctor is Su Zhenbang's daughter, and she specializes in gene therapies for rare diseases. Her research, however, has attracted the attention of villains who want to turn it into technology for creating genetically enhanced soldiers.
As they spend day after day together, the two go from clashing to standing side by side in life-or-death battles, and Lu Chen gradually falls for her. While clearing out enemy strongholds at home and rooting out a traitor, he finds himself growing closer to Su Wan. In the end, he is entrusted with leading a team across the border to wipe out the enemy, settle an old score with his own hands, and find, amid the simple pleasures of everyday life, a home worth protecting more than a life of idleness.
