Transmigrating to a Woman's World: Life as a Court Clerk

My name is Mang Yue. Before I died, the most pathetic thing I ever did was catch my husband cuddling his mistress outside a hotel. I didn't even have the courage to confront them. I hurriedly snapped a few photos, but they caught up with me. Then I was hit by a car. When I opened my eyes again, I had become Mang Yue, a low-ranking county clerk in Lingnan County, in a matriarchal world. The previous owner of this body had been just as meek as I was. Everyone at the county office said, "Clerk Mang is so easy to push around." I thought my life was over all over again, so I decided I didn't want to get married. That was when I discovered something: in this world where women held the power, women who didn't marry and have children were fired and fined. Get married? No way. Men broke my heart in my past life. I would never put my life in anyone's hands again. Then I only needed a child. But what about the child's father? Someone from a powerful family would be too much trouble. I searched and searched, until at last, in an alley in the east of town, I saw a man who made a living writing letters for people at a street stall. Nanmen Yan, the son of a disgraced official exiled from the capital. He wore an old robe washed nearly white and crouched by the wall, feeding dried fish to a cat with an injured tail... Through a twist of fate, the two of us became engaged. I wanted to put off the wedding and find an excuse to end the engagement. But I hadn't counted on one thing: He fell for me. After his mother was reinstated, she transferred me to the capital to work as a clerk. His mother wanted me to marry into the Nanmen family...
