The frail orphan Zhang Sanbing stumbles upon The Heavenly Master's Guide to Feng Shui and discovers he can see the strange things hidden in tombs. To make a living, he joins an excavation crew, only to find his grandfather, who died thirty years ago, looking as if he were still alive in the first ancient tomb. His grandfather has left a warning: "Don't come back." Ignoring the taboo, Zhang ventures deeper into the underground palace. In the third tomb, he encounters a "substitute" who looks exactly like him. When the truth finally comes to light, he discovers that he is no ordinary person, but the only variable in a quest for immortality spanning a hundred years.
