Crossing Jingmen

A Callous Second-Generation Heir × A Cool-Exterior, Warm-Hearted Junior

(Youth + Powerful Family Background + Taking by Force + Chasing His Wife + Unwavering Devotion)

The winter of her sophomore year, Wang Fang saw Che Haoyu for the first time. He was standing beside his equally well-matched girlfriend, looking so handsome that people couldn't help sneaking a few extra glances.

The people around them cracked a few harmless jokes, and all the guys present laughed along. From then on, Wang Fang put those boys on her blacklist of spoiled rich kids. Che Haoyu was one of them.

Beside the pool at the Che family's seaside holiday villa, orange-red evening clouds reflected on the blue sea. Che Haoyu stood ramrod straight, hands in his pockets, facing the coast below the hillside and gazing into the distance. His voice was a little hoarse:

"Be my girlfriend."

"I've never said that to anyone else."

3.

On a night of torrential rain, Che Haoyu hurried back to the apartment. Nothing had changed. Not even a single item of her clothing was missing from the closet. There was even a newly opened bottle of perfume on the bathroom counter: the classic Chanel No. 5.

She probably didn't like that scent. She didn't even like perfume.

Che Haoyu sat on the sofa and curled his lips into a smile. Smoke filled the living room as he stubbed out his last cigarette of the night. Then, as he turned his head, his gaze suddenly stopped

She hadn't left empty-handed after all.

The rain lily on the balcony, small enough to fit in his palm, was gone.

4.

Someone once asked Che Haoyu whether he and Wang Fang had ever been together.

Che Haoyu took his arm off the armrest, leaned forward, and stubbed out his cigarette.

"You should ask her whether I ever had a title."

Beyond Jingmen, where the distant mountains end, I come to travel through Chu.

"Che Haoyu, although this poem is about parting, the only one bidding Li Bai farewell is the river."
