On the Brink of Entropy

[Cool on the Outside, Warm on the Inside Research Goddess × Restrained, Reserved Information Security Engineer]

[Mutual Pining + Intense Push and Pull + The Road to Winning Her Back]

Ten years ago, Ye Yan and Ji Shiyu were just "ordinary" high school classmates. Only the report cards handed out each time concealed the girls' secret rivalry.

Ten years later, he leads a team into her lab to conduct a security audit. At the meeting, they clash, neither willing to yield an inch on their respective expertise.

"Long time no see, physics class rep."

"Likewise, class monitor Ye."

Ye Yan fell into a pair of cool, clear eyes.

"Ji Shiyu!"

Ye Yan called out to Ji Shiyu, who had her left turn signal on and was about to pull away.

Ji Shiyu rolled down the window, thinking she'd left something behind.

Ye Yan ran over and braced both hands on the window frame.

"Ji Shiyu, I don't mind."

Ji Shiyu's fingers tightened around the steering wheel until her knuckles turned white. She met the girl's eyes, bright as falling moonlight.

"I said, I don't mind. Will you be with me?"

Ye Yan breathed softly, but her eyes fixed on her prey like a leopard's.

"Ye Yan..."

Ye Yan thought she heard Ji Shiyu's voice tremble faintly at the end.

"I mind." Ji Shiyu's fingers relaxed slightly.

"To me, you're like a migrating seagull. You belong in the open sky. I'm a young fish in a pond, surrounded by nets."

Ji Shiyu gently moved Ye Yan's hands from the window frame, opened the car door, and stood in front of her, lowering her head.

"There can be no bait by my side."

"I allow entropy to increase in my world, but when it collapses, I'll rebuild it myself."
