In 1935, Gao Yue crossed the Songpan Grassland with the Red Army and arrived at the holy land of the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia revolution. In 1937, as the war of resistance raged across the country, Gao Yue was assigned to southeastern Shanxi. Starting as a guerrilla squad leader, he grew up in the rain of bullets.
