The spiritual qi revival twenty years ago was no natural phenomenon. Something sealed away for three thousand years was awakening beneath the earth’s veins, and the spiritual qi was the “breath” leaking out as its seal loosened. During the age when spiritual cultivation had withered, someone sacrificed the entire human world to imprison it beneath the Nine Netherworlds. Now that spiritual qi has returned, the seal is about to break. The spirit-devouring body within Shen Jin is connected to that seal in a far deeper way. He may be the human world’s final lock.
