Passionate Martial Arts World + High Martial Arts + Multiple Heroines + Tales of the Past
Dongguan, 1996.
Twenty-three-year-old Li Chen is kicked out by his adoptive parents, who leave him with nothing but the words, “You’re not our son,” and a photo of an unfamiliar woman.
The woman in the photo is Sister Yan, a woman nobody in all of Dongguan dares lay a finger on.
Li Chen goes to her to claim their family connection, but Sister Yan tells him to get lost.
Li Chen refuses to leave.
Not until he pulls out the half of a jade pendant hanging around his neck.
She has the other half. But when the two pieces are joined, they reveal not a blood tie, but a message carved at the cost of a life, and a boat sunk at the bottom of the canal.
Great book, thank you
I found another good book that thoroughly describes the joys and sorrows of that era. It deserves five stars.
