The Vermont Manor Journals

Kyle, a talented federal investigator, was once a soldier stationed at the frontier. After being discharged due to injury, he joined the Federal Bureau, where he put his faith in crime-scene investigation and deductive reasoning. Then he crossed paths with a Vilanian spy who excelled at elaborate schemes and manipulating people’s hearts. Iserina Lemaire, the illegitimate daughter of a Vilanian noble, lost her mother young and was disliked by her father. A foolish error in the household registry turned her into Aina Ashley. Forced into the game by her father’s debts, she joined the Crown Court Intelligence Bureau. Manipulating people and controlling public opinion were her greatest weapons, but then she met a stubborn federal investigator who cared only about the facts at the scene.

They were sworn enemies on opposing sides. From their first encounter, they were evenly matched and secretly admired each other. After countless clashes, sometimes enemies and sometimes allies, love finally began to blossom.

Kyle entered the fray with a burning sense of justice, only to discover that the Federal Bureau had long since become a chessboard for politicians scheming against one another. Aina had been forced into the game, but yearned to escape her shackles and reclaim her real name.

After three years apart, Iserina, reborn into a new life, and Kyle fell in love at first sight at a harbor in the neutral country of Serandi. They ended up together and settled at the Vermont estate.

During a summer trip, their son and daughter followed a riddle the couple had left them and found a memoir, opening the door to a past long buried.

I dedicate this book to two sincere souls who fell in love on a stage filled with hypocrisy and deceit.
