In the millennium, Jianghu is not dead yet.
When Jiang Qin was thirteen years old, his grandfather died at the hands of Ke Jiuzhen, a poison master in western Hunan. This old man, who had trained birds all his life, left his grandson only a copy of "Bird Book" and the sentence "Don't let anyone know that you can train birds."
From then on, young Jiang Qin plunged into the deepest muddy water on both sides of the Xiangjiang River. Monkey charmers, tomb robbers, plaster sellers, ventriloquists, corpse chasers, and deceitful people, all three religions take turns to appear. With his unique skill of "borrowing eyes", he uses birds as eyes to see through people's hearts and minds. From Baisha Ferry to Hankou, from Guiwai'ao in Xiangxi to Wujiang River in Dongting, he fought his way out of the siege, killed enemies with his own hands, gathered brothers, built docks, and established rules. Li Fengming, Sun Yunzhi, Ning Tao, and Shi Qing, a group of people with no retreat gathered around him, licking the blood with their swords and handing their lives to each other.
But in the chess game of Jianghu, people never really get out of it. When an old person falls, a new ghost crawls out of the darkness. The deeper Jiang Qin went, the colder he got. His hands were stained with blood and he killed without mercy, but he always kept a light for the person waiting for him in Riverbend Town.
This is a story about grudges, calculations and trust. There are no gods or knights. There are only a group of people who struggle for a living in the cracks of time with knives, birds, and lives. They are fierce yet gentle. They longed to go ashore, but were always dragged back by the river. The world will never end, it just changed its face. And Jiang Qin's whole life has been to fight with this face to the end.
