On April 10, 1912, the luxurious ocean liner Titanic, hailed as "a miracle in the history of world industry," embarked on its maiden commercial voyage after completion, setting sail from Southampton, England, for New York, America. Rose (Kate Winslet), a young woman from a wealthy family, boarded in first class with her mother and fiancé, Cal. Meanwhile, the free-spirited young artist Jack (Leonardo DiCaprio) won a ticket for steerage in a game of cards at the docks.
