The Road to the Underworld Is Long, Yet You Won’t Take Me Across

The night I died in the River of Forgetfulness, he stood on the bank and personally severed the last strand of my soul.

In my previous life, I knelt beside the River of Forgetfulness for three days and nights, only to hear him say, "Daughter of a traitor, you must die."

He wiped out my entire family, crippled my cultivation, and personally pushed me into the river.

A thousand years later, I rebuilt my path to the heavens as a mortal and dazzled the Three Realms.

He searched for me like a madman for a thousand years, then knelt before me with red-rimmed eyes, begging me to turn back.

"Ye Xuan, look. The water of the River of Forgetfulness is still so cold."

"But this time, you're the one kneeling."

I turn and lean into the arms of another person, the one who shielded me from a thousand years of hardship and would never regret it, even in death.

I say calmly:

"I don't want affection that's past its expiration date."

Not because he is better.

But because he never made me kneel and wait.
