Chen Buji is an utterly ordinary college student with a remarkably unconventional mind. One night, he accidentally stumbles upon someone stealing books in the library. Just as he is at a loss for words to defend himself, a voice suddenly sounds in his head: "All-Purpose Crime-Solving Assistant, at your service."
The System is perfectly serious, and its investigative methods are perfectly standard: check the security footage, review the records, follow procedure. Unfortunately, it has ended up with an unserious Host.
"System, the suspect had a motive," says the System. "No, he had a midnight snack," says Chen Buji.
He checks the books, looks up meal-card records, and pores over download logs, solving cases with a pile of wildly unrelated "offbeat clues." Every time, he turns the System's carefully deduced "earth-shattering case" into a farcical misunderstanding. The System breaks down, grumbles, and wants to quit, yet still has to provide tools through tears whenever Chen Buji runs up a tab.
This is a lighthearted, humorous mystery series: each case brings laughs and face-slapping moments, while the truth behind the main story quietly emerges amid the laughter. When solving crimes, he refuses to follow the rules. But when the truth finally comes to light, you'll realize that every step he takes is in the most ridiculous and yet most correct direction.
Let Me Solve the Case? I'd Rather Not. Follow an unserious detective and a System that can't manage to stay serious as they join forces to solve cases, and constantly undermine each other.
