In middle age, Shu Ying had worked herself to the bone raising her son. She thought the hard days were finally behind her, only to have her son drive her to the brink.
With nowhere else to turn, she took a job as a cleaner. While tidying up, she accidentally knocked over a portrait.
The CEO stormed in, furious, but when he saw her face, his eyes instantly reddened.
"Shu Ying, I've been looking for you for so long."
Bai Yushan was her first love from years ago, now the head of this corporation.
The two got back together. Since Bai Yushan was no ordinary man, Shu Ying wanted to test her son's true nature, so she had him pretend to be an ordinary old man.
But her snobbish son despised his mother's old flame from the bottom of his heart.
Then one problem after another came along. Her son secretly sold her gold bracelet, gambled and ran up debts, rummaged through the house to steal things, and angered his pregnant wife so badly that she gave birth prematurely and was hospitalized.
The endless messes left Shu Ying physically and emotionally exhausted. Fortunately, Bai Yushan stayed by her side and shouldered many of her troubles.
Her son showed no sign of changing. Instead, he only got worse.
After her last shred of maternal affection was spent, Shu Ying could take no more and cut ties with her ungrateful son for good.
By the time he finally learned Bai Yushan's true identity, it was too late.
Consumed by regret, he ran to the company's entrance, crying and begging her to acknowledge him as her son.
Dressed in an elegant qipao, Shu Ying looked coldly at the man kneeling on the ground.
"I don't have a son."
She nodded toward the security guards. "Get this man out of here!"
