Nine Gates: Farewell to the Splendid Years

In the twenty-fourth year of the Republic, undercurrents churn through Changsha's Nine Gates. Shen Yanci enters the fray with martial skills and knowledge ahead of his time, hoping to reshape this world. But in a side courtyard of the Huo residence, he encounters a young woman running her fingers over a jade pendant. Huo Jinnian, the Huo family's puppet head, hides beneath her cool, beautiful exterior a stubborn spirit determined to stand on her own, no matter how much it hurts. He helps her seize power, and she accompanies him to the Tower Beyond the Ages. The stardust sand clouds everyone's eyes, but it cannot cloud his clear gaze when he looks at her. Wu Laogou smiles and steps aside, while Zhang Qishan stands shoulder to shoulder with him through a hail of bullets. Later, his name as the God of War rings across Changsha, but he says only this: "The thing I'm proudest of in my life is making sure she no longer has to be Huo Xiangu, and can simply be Huo Jinnian."
