Dual male leads | Two equally powerful leads | Court intrigue | Secret identity | Devoted to each other
Five years ago, Shen Yizhi, the Northern Office commander of the Embroidered Uniform Guard, was ordered to investigate Prince Ning Zhu Huan for forming a faction, embezzling funds, and other crimes. But just as he was about to obtain crucial evidence, he was ambushed and nearly killed. With the emperor's secret assistance, Shen Yizhi faked his death and vanished under the assumed name Shen Du, living in obscurity for five years. Five years later, the emperor summoned him back, appointed him deputy commander of the Embroidered Uniform Guard, and gave him a secret decree to thoroughly investigate the Prince Ning case.
Meanwhile, Lu Xingzhou, commander of the Embroidered Uniform Guard, appears cold and taciturn but is in fact a shrewd, iron-fisted man. From the very beginning, he sees through Shen Du's secret identity, yet quietly plays along with the emperor's arrangements, working with Shen Du in a two-pronged effort, one operating in the open and the other in the shadows.
It's very interesting. The logic of the story is clear. I feel like the author wrote it with intention. I think it's worth recommending.
