Dream of the Red Chamber: After Breaking Off the Engagement, the Mad Power Broker Dotes on Daiyu

[A Dream of Red Mansions spin-off + unhinged powerful official + possessive love + delicate, sickly beauty + size difference + intensely devoted pampering + possessive love]

[Tall, cold-blooded commander of the Embroidered Uniform Guard vs. frail girl wrapped in his cloak]

After Lin Ruhai died, the Jia family set their sights on the Lin family fortune, planning to bring the sickly Lin Daiyu back to their home and swallow up her inheritance.

But at the funeral, Pei Yan, the youngest commander of the Embroidered Uniform Guard in the empire, arrived with his saber and the marriage contract that had been returned years ago. He took Daiyu away in front of everyone. “The engagement may have been called off, but I won’t abandon my fiancée.”

The whole capital waited to see how the living King of Hell would torment Lin Daiyu. Instead, Pei Yan personally summoned imperial physicians and searched for rare medicines, even slicing the emperor’s gift of ginseng into thin pieces for her to snack on. When the Jia family tried to use filial duty to pressure her, he had their gates sealed and drew his blade. When Jia Baoyu wept and demanded her back, Pei Yan coldly refused.

From then on, the frail orphan had someone to stand up for her, and the Jia family’s schemes fell through one by one. But when Daiyu looked at the man holding her captive in his arms, she asked softly, “Uncle Pei, didn’t you say you only saw me as an elder should?”

Pei Yan answered, his eyes red, “I’ll give you the world, I’ll give you my life, but you are never calling me Uncle again…”
