Zhao Jue: Character Profile
Zhao Jue is the only legitimate direct descendant of Qin Shi Huang, Ying Zheng, and the eighty-ninth-generation direct grandson of the First Emperor. He bears the Ying surname and the Zhao clan name, with a bloodline purity unmatched throughout history.
Before awakening, he was the “useless young master” of the Jinling Zhao family, a once-proud clan fallen into ruin and deep debt, whose members were trampled into the mud by nouveau riche upstarts during ancestral rites. After eighteen years of endurance, the moment his blood touched the ancestral sacrificial stone, his pure imperial bloodline awakened and the [Great Qin Imperial Clan Glory System] bound itself to him. Five hundred billion in liquid assets landed in his account, he unlocked the sole access pass to Qin Shi Huang's ultimate underground mausoleum, and the first signs of imperial authority emerged.
Zhao Jue's character is just like his bloodline: on one hand, he has the decisive ruthlessness of an emperor for the ages, looking down on the world and suppressing every petty villain without lifting a finger; on the other, he is fiercely protective of his family and loyal to his kin and old friends. He never leaves his mother, Su Wan, alone. He keeps vigil on his knees all night for his grandfather, Zhao Yuanshan. And after ten years of deep, restrained love for Shen Qingci, he finally speaks up. He is as cold and lonely as a blade, yet saves his softest side for the Zhao family.
From kneeling in the Jinling ancestral hall until the incense burner shattered, to ruling the world, it took him only four years. The System calls him “an emperor for the ages,” but he says, “The imperial flame has been lit. Its legacy rests with us.” Zhao Jue is no underdog rising to the top. He is an emperor returned, a man who still stands tall after countless generations and declares, “As long as the Zhao family stands, the imperial flame will never die.”
