“Say a man pockets half the national treasury, yet still has the beautiful women of the realm on his mind. What is he?”
“A corrupt official! A complete and utter corrupt official!”
“Then what about a man who is not only unrivaled in the world, but also brings good weather and plentiful harvests to the whole nation, letting the people live in peace and contentment?”
“A loyal official! A truly devoted one!”
“Then what if both descriptions refer to the same man? What would you call him?”
“Uh... well...”
Cheng Qingping transmigrates to the Great Liang dynasty and becomes the steward of a corrupt official, soon to be forced to take the fall for him.
From the start, he’s caught in a deadly trap, but fortunately, he awakens the Corrupt Official System.
Accepting bribes earns rewards. Doing business raises his cultivation. Only by supporting the people can he make more money.
Only by saving the nation and its people can he become invincible.
So Cheng Qingping starts with a leaky grain shop. He serves congee in public, pre-sells grain vouchers, organizes group orders with delivery, and opens a chain of shops, using modern business ideas to make his fortune across the land.
Others cultivate martial arts through grueling practice. He does it by making money.
Others fight for power by picking sides. He does it by making sure no one can do without his businesses.
Then, step by step, he makes his way into the imperial court...
Years later, every official in the court denounces him as Great Liang’s most corrupt official.
Cheng Qingping turns around and shouts back:
“Loyal officials are loyal only to the nation. I’m the one who truly cares about the whole world!”
