[The Heavens Set the Rules, but People Insist on Defying Them]
The Heavenly Dao follows its order, and all things drift through the long river of cause and effect. The next cataclysm, which comes once every 120,000 years, is approaching. The Celestial Court is sharpening its blades, ready to purge every fate-defying soul that refuses to obey the rules.
But the Heavenly Dao overlooked one thing:
It can take away the cultivation, lifespan, and destiny of all living beings, but it can never take away that stubborn refusal to accept one's fate deep in their hearts.
Gu Hengqiu is cursed with the fate of a lone star who brings calamity to those around him. Yet he insists on carrying an ordinary iron sword and rising from Tianjian Peak, the most dilapidated peak on Shu Mountain. You say he should die? He insists on living long enough to become the Sword God.
Su Wanshuang, the senior disciple of Zixia Peak on Mount Emei, is upright and composed, as gentle as jade. Yet for an obsession she cannot let go, she dares to draw her sword against the Celestial Court. You say she should forget? She insists on keeping her vigil until the end of time.
Pei Zhaoxue, daughter of a Kunlun traitor, is brilliant and resourceful, always picking through the trash for a bargain. She calculates every game in the world, all to flip the board. You say she should accept her lot? She insists on creating a new Heaven.
Fifty years ago, a Sword Immortal of Withered Glory on Shu Mountain saw through the coming cataclysm and tried to defy Heaven and change his fate. In the end, he died and his Dao dissipated. Before his death, he left behind a legacy and an inscription:
“If Heaven forbids it, then I shall create a new Heaven. You three are the stubborn seeds I leave behind for all living beings.”
So the three oddball, stubborn souls had been chosen long ago.
