In the autumn of the 26th year of the Republic of China, Buddha, the head of the Nine Gates, left a photo, a bronze ring, and four bloody words on the back of the photo - "Wait for you for sixty years." Sixty years later, all the old friends from the nine families have withered away. Only Zhang Qiling still remembers that promise. But he forgot who he was.
Wu Xiaoman is the grandson of Wu Xie. At the age of seven or eight, he is gifted with the ability to see the "threads of cause and effect" wrapped around people. When he met Zhang Qiling on the threshold of his antique shop, he saw that this silent man was completely empty - no past, no place of origin, like a clean piece of white paper, with only a hot ring clutched in his palm.
Strange things began to happen in the city of Changsha: the roar of rotating bronze came from the old well, residents gradually forgot the name of the old street, and two of the seven secret letters from Buddha in the Huo family files disappeared out of thin air. Qiu Wanqing approached Zhang Qiling with a fragment of an ancient book, smiling gently, but hiding a dagger that had tempered the poison of memory in her sleeve. The giant bronze door at the bottom of Dongting Lake slowly opened - that door was not a place of eternal life, but a dead end that the Buddha had laid out for sixty years. Every time Zhang Qiling takes a step deeper, one less person will remember him in the world. If he reaches the end, he will be completely erased from this world.
Wu Xiaoman held the bleeding mark on his ring and carved three crooked characters on the inside of the ring with his nails. He is illiterate, but he only knows: There must be someone in the world, remember that person without a name.
There is only one day left in the sixty-year period. Inside and outside the door, everyone is waiting for someone to remember him.
