After Becoming the Wicked Stepmother, All Three Kids Become Totally Enamored with Me

When she opens her eyes, Shen He has become the notorious wicked stepmother of the whole area.

The three children run whenever they see her. The youngest clutches a chipped pottery bowl and sobs, begging her not to sell his older brother and sister.

It is a famine year, the rice jar is nearly empty, and all the kitchen has left is half a sack of coarse flour.

With nothing but her cooking skills and knack for farming, Shen He clears land and grows vegetables, gathers mushrooms in the hills, sells savory pancakes at the market, and gradually repairs their leaky mud-brick house.

At first, the children hide their food, watch out for her, and call her a wicked woman. Later, when villagers come to bully her, three small figures stand together in front of her.

She makes food, sends the children to the village school, and sweetens their hard life with the everyday comforts of home.

But when the man who has been gone for years suddenly appears outside the fence, the three children cling tightly to her. “Father can come inside, but Mother can’t leave!”
