Gu Zhun, 26 years old, is a former telemarketing specialist of an insurance company. After being laid off, he accidentally found a job at an insurance company with a strange name - Hengan. What he didn't know was that the company had a department that was not open to the public: the Death Claims Department, which specialized in taking over insurance policies for people who "did not deserve to die".
On the night he joined the company, he received a copy of "Instructions for Death Claims Adjusters": The object of the claim is not the money, but the cause of death of the deceased; if you make a mistake in checking a key link, you will re-enact the death of the deceased; do not trust the death certificate.
The first claim sheet was for his high school classmate Lu Jiashu - the police determined that he had committed suicide. The waiting period had not expired, and the company wanted to refuse compensation. But one month before his death, Lu Jiashu bought accident insurance for the entire dormitory, and all the beneficiaries were Gu Zhun. He also left a draft message for him: "If you see this, it means I am dead. Come check me, don't believe that suicide report."
The deeper Gu Zhun investigated, the more he discovered that there was an actuarial hand behind every "reasonable death" order - death was designed as a product, and the policy terms were the tools for committing the crime. And in the attachment to the contract he signed when he joined the company, there was a final policy with the name "Gu Zhun" written on it by the insured.
He thought he was just investigating the case until his own name was written on the claim form.
