Shen Zhaoning, a modern history professor, transmigrates into the body of a bullied concubine-born daughter, carrying a secret edict from the late emperor. She and the cold-faced powerbroker Xie Xuanyi go from using each other to entrusting their lives to one another. Her legitimate elder sister, Chu Mingyu, presses her at every turn; the female general Yun Yanhui returns with old grudges; and Liu Fuyan, a descendant of shamans, stakes her life on a deadly scheme. Wielding history like a blade, she stirs up the imperial court, rising from prisoner to master strategist. One edict overturns the old order of three dynasties, while Xie Xuanyi’s secret turns out to be strangely linked to the mystery of her transmigration.
